Welcome!

We want to thank you for attending this year’s New England soccer showcase! With coaches and teams from over 12 states, we feel this to be one of the finest showcases in the region for this time of year. Schedules have been posted and can be found on our directions page, a field map, attending college coaches can all be found on the site as well.

Check-in-registration:
We are making this as easy and user friendly as possible to keep the focus on showcasing your players. Check in for all teams is 1 ½ hours before their first game at the Main Pavilion tent on the Rogers Field complex, 100 Sherman Avenue, Devens,MA. 01434

You will need a roster, medical forms for each player, (your club forms are fine-we will be confirming that you have them), pass cards, and the completed liability indemnification form .

If you are an out of state team that requires permission to travel forms, we will collect those as well.

Parking:
Park only in marked/posted areas. If you park illegally, you will be ticketed or towed. There is a state police barracks on site and they are aggressive with illegal parking. It cannot be understated- Don’t park illegally! You will get a ticket!

Facilities:
We will have a food concession on site. For those looking for something else, there are a few restaurants and sandwich shops, as well as a Dunkin Donuts literally up the road a few blocks from the playing fields. There is also a gas/convenience store there as well. Off the site from the rear entrance if you take a right, you will enter the Town of Ayer and there are several fine places to eat downtown.

We will have a trainer and EMT on site for Saturday and two EMT’s on Sunday.

On Saturday May 8, at 10AM and 12:30PM
All goalkeepers on teams participating in the Spring Showcase will have an opportunity to show their abilities to College coaches by participating in the GK showcase.
The event is sponsored by Primo Sport and will be conducted by Jeff Duback.
Jeff Duback is a former Goalkeeper for the US Olympic team, US National Team, Boston Bolts of the American Professional Soccer League.
The session will focus on the following topics:
1. Basic handling and footwork – various drills that will push keepers to coordinate footwork with handling.
2. High Balls and Cross balls – keepers will be tested on timing, ability to make a save (cross balls) above the cross bar and range – ability to control the box.
3. Shot stopping and positioning – keepers will be tested on ability to move into the correct angle and make a clean save – testing low balls, mid-height and high balls.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It has always seemed strange that the Boston area does not have a major showcase. There are over 400 college soccer programs located within a five hour drive. The majority of these programs (73%) are private school programs. Why is that important to you?

  1. The majority of colleges attending any showcase drive to the event. There are 2 or 3 exceptions to this rule.
  2. 2) The cost of a scholarship for a private school is the same whether the player is from in state or out of state. The cost of an out of state player is higher for a state school program.
  3. Given the state of the economy, travel budgets are being cut by many institutions.
With all the available showcase why come to ours?
  • We are in the right place and at the right times. We picked Mother’s Day because most colleges are still open, but all spring soccer programs have ended. This creates availability for coaches. We also picked the first weekend of August as this is the last free weekend for college coaches before they are permitted to start practicing with their teams. Recruiting falls off dramatically once the season has started.
  • We believe attending showcases with a significant number of private school coaches is an integral piece of a showcase strategy. This should be combined with attending local or regional showcases that attract state and private schools in your area.

Last year we started a two day showcase over Mother’s Day weekend. The event attracted over 65 coaches from some of the nation’s top educational universities,
Click Here for the list. This year we are adding a summer showcase that we believe will draw a significant number of northeast college coaches.

What makes us different?

Our Mother’s Day event is designed as a three game minimum, two games on Saturday and one on Sunday. Games end in the early afternoon on Sunday and we don’t start until 9am on Saturday. This allows teams time to drive and helps minimize travel expenses.

The Summer Showcase is held over three days not four. Teams will play one 80 minute game per day. One of your games will be in the morning allowing players and parents to visit colleges in the afternoon and there over 100 within a two hour drive of the facility. Another game will be in the late afternoon on another day, allowing visits to schools in the morning.

Many summer events are four days. This is a waste of time and money. If you’ve attended these events most coaches are not there on the final day. They know that players are tired and over extended by the fourth, fifth, or sixth game. Two to three days of recruiting are sufficient for their needs.

We feel confident the event:

  1. Will draw many coaches even in this economic environment.
  2. Reduce travel expense versus four day events.
  3. Allow you to combine college visits with showcase attendance.
  4. Will reduce stress on the players by not over taxing their bodies.

The Devans facility is about 30 minutes outside of Boston and less than an hour’s drive from Logan Airport. It has 11 fields all at one complex, a great layout for recruiting. The fields are in excellent shape and are only available for league and tournament play. The fee is $750 per team for either event.

The event will be run by Bill Cameron and Sid Mazzola. Bill has been the director of some of the nation’s top showcase for over a decade. Sid is one of New England’s top youth coaches. If you have questions please contact us via our contact form.

Regards,
Bill Cameron Sid Mazzola
